GOALS AND INTENTIONS:

-        further expansion of cultural relations between Russia and foreign countries;

-        promotion of international and national art of photography;

-        contribution to development of photography skills and creativity of professional and amateur photographers;

-        evolvement of photographic art history, criticism and pedagogics.

MAIN FESTIVAL EXHIBITIONS:

·         International Photographic Contest exhibition;

·         “Earth Peaks” (Natalya Belentsova, member of The Russian Union of Art Photographers and The Russian Union of Artists, Chelyabinsk, Russia);

·         “A Life in Photographs” (to the memory of Andrey Baskakov, 1st chairman of The Russian Union of Art Photographers);

·         “Northern Sea Route Expedition” (V. A. Zeveke), the Russian Museum of Photography collection;

·         “1980s Gorky” (S. Pokalyakin), the Russian Museum of Photography collection;

·         “Decals” (Olga Sergeyeva, member of the Russian Union of Art Photographers, Minsk, Belarus).

MEETINGS, MASTER-CLASSES, LECTURES OF LEADING RUSSIAN AND FOREIGN PHOTOGRAPHY PROFESSIONALS:

-        Meeting with Yury Baturin (Moscow), member of The Russian Union of Art Photographers and The Russian Union of Journalists, Associate of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian pilot astronaut, Hero of Russia;

-        Meeting with Olga Sergeyeva (Minsk, Belarus), member of The Russian Union of Art Photographers;

-        Meeting with Darko Dozet (Novi Sad, Serbia), press photographer;

-        Meeting with a photographer from Essen, Germany.


SHORT FILMS DEMONSTRATION (dedicated to the history of Russia, to Nizhny Novgorod, to actual social aspects of the life of people in Russia):

-        Regiment” (by Boris Liznev);

-        “Optical Axis” (by Marina Razbezhkina);

-        “Studiya Nizhniy” (by Evgeniy Kudel’nikov).

ADDITIONAL EVENTS:

-        International Photographic Contest exhibition vernissage (sightseeing tour for participants and guests of the festival, ship tour – the Oka and the Volga rivers);

-        announcement of the contest results, analysis of the exhibited series;

-        issue of the festival catalogue.

INTERNATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC CONTEST

VOLZHSKOYE BIENNALE – 2016

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

1. All amateur and professional photographers, as well as groups of photographers may submit their works.

2. Participants shall submit works of authorship grouped together into a project (series). A series shall comprise from three (3) to six (6) works united by virtue of one theme/idea/image concept and produced not earlier than 2010. Each author/group of authors may submit at most three projects (series), i.e. the overall maximum number of works per each author/group of authors shall be eighteen (18). Submission deadline is June 14, 2016.

3. The projects (series) shall be referred by the participant to either of the two categories:

“A”– art photography; and

“B” – press photography (not processed in Photoshop).

4. The works must be provided with the following information (may be on the reverse side of the print):

-        name and surname of the author (group of authors);

-        category (“A” or “B”);

-        title of the work and/or title of the project (series);

-        serial number, if necessary;

-        year of shooting;

-        full postal address, e-mail, telephone number.

5. The judges of the contest undertake to accept or withdraw series only as a whole.

6. According to the results of the contest in each of the two categories the authors of three prizewinning projects (series) will be rewarded as follows:

1st prize – diploma, souvenir;

2nd prize – diploma, souvenir;

3rd prize – diploma, souvenir.


7. Each participant whose project(s) (series) is (are) to be exhibited is supposed to get the exhibition catalogue.

8. All projects (series) submitted as prints shall also be submitted digitalized for the purpose of catalogue make-up. Image settings: 300 dpi, JPG (at least 3200 pixels in long direction). Storage media shall be submitted together with prints. Series which are not submitted in digital format shall be withdrawn from the catalogue.

9. The list of the participants whose works are to be exhibited as well as the results of the judges meeting will be available at www.fotomuseum.nnov.ru (web site of the Russian Museum of Photography).

10. Series shall be submitted either printed (by post) or digitalized (by e-mail).

-        If printed, works shall be sent back to the author (group of authors).

-        If digitalized, the works shall be printed by the festival organizer (max print format – 30x45 cm) at it’s own expenses and shall NOT be sent to the author (group of authors).

11. The organizer undertakes to handle the prints with care. The organizer accounts for NO transport damages.

12. The organizer may use images for the purpose of the festival promotion but shall NOT use them commercially.

13. Each author/group of authors submitting his (her, their) works for the contest guarantee(s) that he (she, they) has (have) rights of authorship or copyright owner’s permit to exhibit the works submitted. Submission of the works for the contest means that the author/group of authors is ready and willing to accept the conditions and the procedure of the contest.
